2006 Mission Journeys produce great results
It has been another banner year for the Mission Journeys, as the outreach ministry continued to experience remarkable growth and impact.
This year has seen record numbers with 29 trips and nearly 525 participants!
These work, teaching, and/or evangelistic trips, ministered in several different mission locations on 5 different continents. Our volunteers served in Brazil, Mexico, Romania, Taiwan, Tanzania, and in AZ, KY, LA, MS, SD, WA, right here in the United States.
While time and space won't allow for sharing all the stories, here are some of the many great things that have happened...
- Taichung, TAIWAN -- A team of 12 helped missionaries David & Brenda Atkin conduct a first-ever Sports & English camp on the island of Taiwan. The camp gave 100 Taiwanese teens the chance to play different sports, learn the English language and discover the Bible and Jesus Christ. At the end of the camp, 35 young people came forward, with 15 of them being baptized into Christ!

- Saltillo, MEXICO -- Host missionary Ernesto Fuentes wrote this about the team of 13 from Kentucky churches, "They offered an excellent Vacation Bible School in Bisnaga with an attendance of 100 children. They poured the roof of the second floor of the mission house (720 sq ft), and also poured the floor of the second pool (360 sq ft). In addition, they protected 58 trees we had planted, carried rocks for constructing the second and third pools, cleaned the boys’ dormitory, and helped finish some of the walls of the girls’ dormitory. We thank you for going far beyond what we had expected of you. Thank you for showing us Christ in every act of your lives.

In Buras, LA, teams helped with clean-up efforts, home & boat repairs, as well as working on the new base camp and possible new church plant.
Local resident Lloyd Boudreaux was baptized in the Mississippi River as a result of teams working to repair his boat he calls home.
Host Missionary Garry Jones wrote, "He has told several times how he had lost all hope until his twelve little angels from First Church of Christ (Burlington, KY), came and removed the debris from his boat deck, giving him new hope."
